NSW: Prison escapee to be questioned about woman s death

SYDNEY, Aug 2 AAP - A prison escapee will be interviewed by police this morning after a
woman was stabbed to death in Sydney's south-west yesterday.

The 27-year-old man, who last Tuesday escaped from the John Moroney Correctional Centre at
Windsor, in Sydney's north-west, is recovering in Bankstown Hospital from deep cuts to the
hands.

Police said he was found in a street near where a woman was fatally stabbed yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said a 29-year-old woman was at her Sefton home with her two children
when was stabbed in the chest about 2am yesterday. The single stab wound was fatal.

The woman's 11-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, who were asleep at the time of the
attack, have been taken into care by family friends.

A police spokeswoman said a prison escapee was expected to be interviewed about the
stabbing today.
