Vic; Murray valley town put on fire alert
MELBOURNE, Jan 18 AAP - Residents of Biggera in north-east Victoria were on a fightor flight alert today as bushfires broke control lines and edged towards their homes inthe Murray River valley.
State government firefighters with the Department of Sustainability and Environment(DSE) issued the warning for residents to be prepared to either fight the oncoming firesor abandon their homes and save themselves.
The fires today broke containment lines holding a blaze which had been burning in thePinnabar area, about 35km south of Corryong, since last Tuesday and destroyed more than7,000ha.
